when searching for an Airline, we select the country which in theory lists the airlines registered in that country, but in practice many are missing. Eg Maldives list six airlines but does not include Manta Air, Villa Air, and a couple of other operators.

I suspect this is a known issue. Do the airlines have to be added manually?

It's certainly not a known issue - we obtained a list of all airlines and the country they belong to, which was imported into the database. It may well be that there were some missing from the list, or it was incorrect in some cases.

In your example though, I get 8 airlines under Maldives - Manta Air is there, Villa Air is down as "FlyMe-Villa Air".

If you spot any errors, let me know and I'll correct them.
