Is this still an issue? We were having performance issues with the site over the weekend, was it related to this, or is it a bug in the page?
I am still having issues. As mentioned using Safari and iOS 11 on the mobile version, I do not have the "search field" to enter a registration anymore. I see the recent user images, the recent sightings and the recent forum activity but cannot enter a search.
If a try to add a sighting to a random aircraft of those of the recent sightings I get an error message stating the "the field Date must be a date" although I did not change anything from the default setting.
Any ideas Gavin?

There doesn’t seem to be a Search bar at the top of the page when I look on my iPad it is there but on my phone it is missing

Tried using it on a Samsung mobile two days ago; the option to view desktop version was not visible and whenever I tried to enter anything into the "search" box it immediately went off to another page. Not possible to log anything.
I've just made some changes to the top bar when displayed on mobiles - the search box should always show now.
Let me know if its working or not.
