military and russian requests

Posted by anorak48 on 30 March 2015 - 09:10:26

To all

done what i am prepared to do with UK military entries. if you want a certain one entered list it here say max of 5 requests including museum exhibits seen. also requests for foriegn military and russian bulit and registered aircraft not in the database here as well again max of 5. to save on space can you date when the request was made and when i have read it i will reply and mark it as in process then date it when completed. then you can re-edit your request to new ones if needed and date it again i will mark it as in process again after each user entry. and when completed i will edit it and date it. . for foriegn all i need is reg and country as some foriegn military reg are very similar. i will do my best but it may take time as spotting will always come first.

Yes Gary, I believe it is a typo in my logbook: I have deleted the sighting. When you say re-use my entry, do you mean you want me to edit the existing post or just keep using this thread? And OK-I understand your preference to leave the warbirds as the model in which they were originally delivered. (Some get modified numerous times.) Some of my sightings go back 40 years also, though very few of those have registration numbers.

Good Day, IN326, a Boeing 737-8FV (P-8I Neptune), shows her status as "stored." After having seen her do a touch and go at Paine Field this afternoon, we may conclude that she has emerged from storage. Aloha! Jonathan

OK

Hello again, referring to N779XP, formerly XT779, Registration Details show her as having left the Historic Flight Foundation. Yet I viewed her there on static display during Paine Field Aviation Day on the 16th of May with her HFF sandwich board claiming the USAF L-20A color scheme is representative of the type's service prior to her transfer to the Royal Army.

The linked Flickr image shows her at least appearing to taxi under her own power here in March.

UK mil reg was incorrect it was XP779 not XT779 and not Royal Army but the Army Air Corps the DB had it wrong. XT779 is a helicopter. the sandwich board is lying it never served with the USAF. its full and true history is here.

Fascinating, well now the DB is right. That explains a few discrepancies: the tail number now matches the military registration. The warpaint's USAF registration would have translated to a manufacturing date of '62, plausible per uswarplanes.net, but doesn't match her date of manufacture of '60 per FAA.gov. "Royal Army" just didn't have the right ring to it. I should have recalled the correct service was Army Air Corps. I'd better read up on the British Army Air Corps. Someone's also got a Beagle AOP.6 running around here somewhere.

Keep up the great work: I have much to learn, Jonathan

Posted by anorak48 on 26 May 2015 - 08:13:48

might have been built in 1960 and not flown until 1961 they didn't rush them selves back then. but the FAA don't always get it right look up N107XS its serial is FL601 not XS107 its UK mil reg as the FAA have it.

Indeed Gary, I see that a lot, especially racing warbirds that were remanufactured from bits and pieces from smoking craters by classic restoration shops. I seriously doubt the FAA routinely scrutinizes registration applications. They don't have the time, people or budget for it. I'm just happy to see meticulous restorations like XP779 here. I also updated my own DB: Royal Navy is now Fleet Air Arm.

Hello again, could we please add Col. Frank Borman's P-51D? At Nellis in '97 she was registered as N15FS. Her military registration is 44-84850. The registration was formerly held by a Citation. 44-84850 subsequently became N514NH, but she crashed at Chandler, AZ in '10. The new registration shows as active in the FAA db. FLICKR shows her to have been restored after the tragic loss of life. https://www.flickr.com/photos/jackmcgo210/4192269658/in/photolist-e29gq5-e29gmN-e29gsb-e29VLu-5RPcTi-7ostHm-7uQyMR-7uQyKK-5RPfin-93Hduk-93LkJh-5RPcPr-5RTvYU-5RTwwh-7oorgZ-7ooNbD-7osCef-7ooqQD-69uWdQ-7zmri5 has a detailed registration history up to the crash.

No Dennis, it's spelled "Borman." He is Col. Frank Borman, USAF, Ret. He was the commander of Apollo 8. Stiletto also was rebuilt from a smoking crater. Amazing. Thanks, Jonathan

Could you please also add N104, ex RCAF CF-104D? Her former military R/N was 104633 (ex 12633). Her FAA registration was formerly held by an H.S. 125 and a C-131. She was on static display at Nellis's Golden Air Tatoo in '97. Thanks again.

Hi Dennis

Thanks for adding An-24s EZ-46680, ER-AFY and RA-46690.

They've been added as Antonov 24-PB. Can these please be amended to -RV.

In the Russian cyrillic alphabet, P is pronounced 'r' and 'B' is pronounced 'v'. Therefore these are the common type -RV.

Thanks Dougie

Hi Dougie,

thanks for the heads up.

All An-24s have been corrected.

Hello, USAF C-21A 84-0096 aircraft model is listed as "00.07.85-C-21A" plus a typo should be "coded." I understand these are artifacts from when you assimilated to source db.

Thank you, Dennis. JB

YI-AQX has been added now: https://www.planelogger.com/Aircraft/View?Registration=YI-AQX&DeliveryDate=00.08.12

Unfortunately I cannot find any reliable information about EK-32458. So it is a bit difficult to add that one. The excellent russian website does not know anything about this frame even if I search for CCCP- or RA- or UR-regs with this number. I have it here for you, but maybe you can find out more on this: https://www.planelogger.com/Aircraft/View?Registration=EK-32458&DeliveryDate=Unknown

Yes I can't find any records of this aircraft, though the number is definitely correct, I have photo confirmation. By "excellent Russian website" do you mean Scramble? I've sent details to Guus, hope he can track it down!

No I meant russianplanes.net, but this one does not have it either.

I´ll check back in a week or so, maybe some additional information pops up.
