New Admin Introduction

Hi All,

My name is Brian and although I've been a Premium subcriber for a few years I have now joined Gavin & Dennis on the admin team.

I've been 'spotting' since 1971 and my interest is mainly in military aviation, although I do visit civil fields on a fairly regular basis.

As Dennis is inundated with zillions of update requests, I have come on board to help out and will be taking care of military aircraft updates. Dennis will continue to focus on the civil side and Gavin on the longer term projects. I also intend to increase the military records contained within the database but this will naturally take time, so please bear with me.

It would be a great help to us if you split your future requests into separate ones for military and civil aircraft within the "Sending Update/Corrections" forum to make sure Dennis and I are not working on the same lists.

I look forward to working with you all.

Kind regards, Brian

Hi Brian,
Great news for all I think everyone will agree. Dennis has been doing a fantastic job but it must feel like running up the Down escalator for him. I assume requests already submitted remain as they are and that there is no need to resubmit. I wish you the very best and if you want requests submitted in any particular way please let us know, as we all want to make things easier for you guys. Thanks
Greg

Many thanks Greg,

Yes poor Dennis. He does 3-4 updates and then another 5-6 come in so he's really struggling. And then I go and throw a load of mil updates at him!! It's not just inputting the data but we have to research the info first (particularly for civil a/c with previous registrations etc) and enter them individually.

There's no need to resubmit any requests. I'm going to work on the military bits of the existing requests if there's mixed info but going forward it would be easier for Dennis and I if the civil updates/requests are on one message and the military on a separate one. That way we don't trip over each other!

Kindest regards, Brian

Hi Brian,

as discussed with Gavin this is fantastic news and your help is very much appreciated. So welcome to the editors team and let me know if you need any help with this in the beginning.

The site and its users are growing which is good news but more user request more updates and so your support will improve the database for everyone.

I will continue with the civil requests and will open separate posts for both the civil and military updates.

Cheers,

Dennis

Anything to make life easier you you guys. I only joined the sight a few months ago and I don't think most users realise how few people there are behind the scenes, myself included up to this point. Just to echo previous posts I agree that you have been a brilliant job and I think most users appreciate the time and effort that goes into the site but as it grows it starts to become too much for one person so an extra pair of hands can only be a good thing. The timing of this change is good from my point of view as I was just about to post some updates so I have now split them into civil and military. I will apologise in advance on the military side as it relates to the 1982 Middle Wallop air show so there are about a million Gazelles and Lynx to add but I suppose it will be good practice. You say you are going to have separate threads for the Civil and military, I have posted the civil ones on the existing thread but I'll hold off on the adding the military ones until a new thread is started.

Good luck and thanks for all your hard work so far

Steve
