BA 777 Fire - LAS

A British Airways 777-200 (G-VIIO) suffered an engine fire this morning and aborted takeoff from Las Vegas. All on-board were able to evacuate without injury.

I wonder if this will be a hull loss? We went a good few years without a 777 hull loss, now we've had a few in the last few years!

There's a photo post fire on aviation-safety.net from Twitter - it rather looks like it will be a hull loss.

By all accounts I've seen so far, it sounds like the crew did a fine job.

yep, it's a bit of a mess! Uncontained engine failure, which punctured the fuel tank. Could have been a lot worse, but I'd say that's going to be scrapped now.

Everyone did a fine job - 5 minutes from aborting takeoff to having the aircraft fully evacuated and the fire extinguished!

I have changed the status of the airframe to write-off.
