Hi Nighthawk,
Sorry to keep on about this but it is a fairly big issue. I wolke up one day to find my list of most seen aircraft types was only showing the model type before any "-" dash. So all Tupolevs were showing just Tu, Tristars just L, etc.
I raised a forum post which has been summarily ignored except one fellow premium subscriber.
I understand that things go wrong, updates aren't perfect etc but, after many weeks, it would be nice to at least get an acknowledgement.
I don't know if this image will show, I followed the recommended site for image hosting.
If not, try here: https://i.ibb.co/LpgLhJJ/Logger.jpg
Thanks
Hi Dougie,
Sorry for not replying sooner. I'm aware of the issue, and trying to find a way to fix it, but it's not an easy fix.
There was an existing issue with the way they were displaying that we tried to correct (I cant remember what it was now!), but the only alternative results in the issues you've noticed. It works better for 737/A320 and modern aircraft, but fails a bit on older aircraft.
Short of working through every single record and re-wording the aircraft type (there's only about half a million records...) i'm not sure what the solution is.
I'll try and have a look over Christmas and see what can be done.
Hi Nighthawk
The way the differentiation works right now is harmed by the first - in the aircraft type..
The - would have to be eliminated somehow like DC8, DC9 or IL76, IL18 or C17, C5.
Question is if this changes anything for the individual user, since he logged it once as DC-8, IL-76 and C-17 and would still have to edit the type in every case I suppose.
The differentiation used to allow the first - and so made a difference between for example 737-800(WL) ,737-8FH(WL) and 737-83Z(WL)
or
A350-941 and A350-1041
That was the existing issue you say you can't remember, with the way they were displaying that you tried to correct.
The other issue that looks like being forgotten is the one with My reports.
This was working very well as it was at the beginning, apart from maybe sometimes but rarely being a bit slow.
Now if you filter an airport for your reports, it finds them but only shows as much of them as do appear in the equal total number of all of your last reports.times 25.(the size of one page in my reports)
If you search for a report of an airport you only visited once (or 25 times), but since then you created 25 or more new reports elsewhere it won't be shown at all.
This should be easier to fix. Still it would be nice to have back the original where we also could search for dates or city names and not only airport codes.
Merry Christmas and a happy New Year
and
Thanks already and in advance
Erdni
Ok.. try that now.
I've added some rules to override the model on the My Sightings page. Unfortunately I need to add a rule for every single aircraft type, which is quite a task. Ive done most of the major aircraft (all airbus/boeing/douglas/antonov etc). Theres a chance ive missed a few though.
If you spot any... let me know and i'll add them.
Hi Nighthawk
Boeing and Airbus made a good development.
DC-8, 9, 10 seem all to run under DC
AN-12, 24, 26 , 2 to 225 seem all to run under Antonov An
but at least 24, 26 and 28 have now their own construction list at last if you click the type. The An-2 still brings them all together witrh the An-22 and probably An-225
ERJ
CRJ
Piper PA
don't differentiate
C seems to sum up many of the US military aircraft from C-5 via C-47 to C-130
Dassault Falcon is anyway one construction list for all but a few, somebody, probably Paul already extracted.
Apart from that my list only shows Boeing and Airbus and they are now differentiated in an acceptable way.
Thanks for that and in advance
Erdni
P.S.: Systems is slow for the last few days. Hope that's caused only by the refurbishment, and will turn to normal when most of it is done.
Hi Nighthawk,
My TOP AIRCRAFT list now includes 141 sightings of the A340-900. This must be an error!
Swakeleys
Hi Nighthawk,
My TOP AIRCRAFT list STILL includes 141 sightings of the A340-900. Can you review and amend please.
Swakeleys
Hi Nighthawk, thank you yes that seems to have done the trick, thank you. Tupolevs, Yaks and Ilyushins also look okay. Thanks
Hi Doughie
What about
DC-8, 9, 10 all added up to just DC
AN-12, 24, 26,28,72,74, 2 to 225 all added up to just Antonov An
ERJ making no difference between 135, 145 175, 190
CRJ making no difference between 100 and 900 and everything in between
Piper PA for all of them
C for almost every military transport aircraft in the USAF
Is that o.k. for You too or do You see things that I don't?
Tupolevs, Yaks and Ilyushins sadly didn't make it into my top 20. How are they split up?
Thanks in advance for an info
Erdni
Hi Nighthawk,
Having just added an A350-941 sighting, my TOP AIRCRAFT list now includes 142 sightings of the A340-900. It seems the A350-900 is thus translating as the A340-900 model. Can you please investigate and correct?
Swakeleys
This should now be corrected.
Hi Nighthawk,
Indeed it has been. Thanks for correcting this.
Swakeleys
Hi Erdni
sorry for such a long delay before replying!
Yes my DCs are shown as type and model so DC-10-50, or DC-9-30.
Antonovs are also sorted out - An-24-B etc
Boeings are in great detail - B777-300ER, B737-800etc
ERJs have model but some with a - and some without; eg I have ERJ-190-LR and also ERJ-190LR. Also ERJ-195-AR and ERJ-190BJ.
In the top 20 list, Airbus and Tupolev only show as type - A320, A321, Tu154, Tu134 without model afterwards, but in the full sightings list the detail is all there.
Thanks Dougiehd
I was only talking bout the top 20 list.
In the last few weeks nighthawk and paul gold made a lot of improvement in bringing construction lists in shape and correcting types.
My sightings is working great and my reports got fixed.
But the top 20 list looks like that:
Type Sightings my comment about the appearance of type
A320 7077 good
737-800 5977 good
ERJ 3657 unpleasing
CRJ 3083 unpleasing
Piper PA 2979 unpleasing
737-300 2417 good
727-200 2310 good
A319 2286 good
A321 2215 good
757-200 2057 good
Dassault Falcon 2048 unpleasing
737-200 1882 good
737-700 1676 good
767-300ER 1630 good
DC 1557 very unpleasing
C 1452 even more unpleasing, can't even say if it also counts Cessnas or only US military types
737-400 1407 good
Antonov An 1404 very unpleasing
747-400 1365 good
707 1200 o.k
