How come all these European & British aircraft including small props at OTT which is in Brazil?

Posted by Deleted User on 20 June 2014 - 22:12:56

Probably for the same reason as all those British & European lights at SHM which is Shirahama, Japan.

to me OTT means over the top Re SHM could people be putting in that code for Shoreham by mistake as Shorehams code is ESH.

I'm afraid that's me Gary. It's years of going to Shoreham & just jotting down SHM for short in my notebooks. In all honesty, I never gave it a thought & I certainly didn't know of the existence of Shirahama in Japan. Apologies to all.

Everybody makes mistakes including me my biggest one putting N192GP in my logs in 1988 I saw it at Long Marston in a disused building I thought was a dismantled microlight. I did not find out what it was until 2006. It turned out to be a Singer GAT-1 Flight simulator.

I thought for a moment i was missing something like England Team there lol. Or more seriously the Brazilians were parking visitors for the World Cup.

Sometimes I dread to think what gaffs I've probably made over the years. I rely on the hope that no-one else is interested in scrutinising my logs.

Rhod

I just saw SHM mentioned in this post and just thought it seems like shoreham and i had no idea who's logs SHM appeared in. sorry if it appeared that I looked into yours logs which I didn't.

Gary

Gary. In all seriousness, you are very welcome to look at my logs. They are rather bog standard as I never started the hobby until 1995 - in my advancing maturity! As you say, good for spotting in the UK today but I've had to settle for OTTs as I have a temporary mobility problem. Rhod.

OTT is indeed the code for an airport in Brazil, however a few people have been using it for logging "Over The Top" sightings. SBS would better used for this purpose, as it is not used by any airports.

Gaz, I'm not sure what you mean here. Is there anything in your profile you don't want made public?

Posted by anorak48 on 23 June 2014 - 11:33:46

I mean you do not need to be logged in to read our name. I will send you an email about the rest. I am sorry but I will stick to OTT for over the top as I do not fancy re writing over 2900 entries to put OTT to SBS.
