Commentscrashed 24.11.11 when the a/c was on single-ship Advanced Handling Characteristics sortie. During the flight, the aircraft initiated a left-hand spin at 19,000 feet mean sea level. The pilot attempted to regain control. After multiple revolutions and losing several thousand feet of altitude without any noticeable change in spin characteristics, he lowered the landing gear in an attempt to aid aircraft recovery. When it was about 8-9,000 feet mean sea level, the aircraft recovered from its spin and settled into a 50-70 degrees nose low attitude indicative of an attempt to regain flying airspeed. The pilot selected afterburner attempting to initiate a dive recovery. As aft control stick was applied and the aircraft neared the horizon, the aircraft nose sliced to the left. At this time, it went to an uncontrolled ejection situation that necessitated immediate ejection. The pilot ejected without serious injury and the aircraft crashed into ground. Since the aircraft was totally destroyed and given the limited evidence available, they can't determine a cause by clear and convincing evidence.
