| Comments | After approximately 20 minutes of normal flight, the pilot identified a significant fuel leak in the cockpit. He considered that he should land the aircraft as quickly as possible and selected a suitable field. During the ground roll and immediately after a collision with a wire fence, the fuel ignited but the pilot managed to evacuate the aircraft without injury. The interior of the aircraft continued to burn fiercely, until a halon fire extinguisher fitted within the cockpit exploded and extinguished the fire. 13/01/11 |
