A major issue is that when I put in a registration, it pulls it up from the database, I put in the date and location and save. Unfortunately when you then go to the airframe with all it's previous owners and registrations, it seems to pick one as random, without reference to the date sighted. e.g. G-ARVK, a VC10, I have logged on 01/01/1973, it is showing the BAC Vickers entry (the first entry) for that airframe. G-ARPL, a Trident seen on the same day is logged as the second entry, British Airways, even though it didn't transfer to BA until 1974. Clicking on the correct one just asks for a new sighting. How can you correct dated sightings and pick the correct entry in the database?

When I enter a registration, a menu comes up of that registration history. I just pick applicable date and then enter it on that screen.

Ron,
Thanks for your reply.
I don't think you understand. Each airframe has had a number of owners etc and when I enter it on a certain date I want to be able to pick which one in the list of owners I saw it as. Once it has been entered entered you can go to My SIghtings and click on the registration which gives you a Registration History - one of the entries in that table is marked as Seen It (the black plane). Which one it has chosen seems to be random and not based on the date of when you saw it. Take G-ARVK - I saw it in 1973 yet the one shown as Seen It is the first one - BAC Vickers, which it was only between 1963 and 1964. I can't change this as when I click the correct operator it takes me to an Add New Sightings of G-ARVK.
It should either be intelligent and look at date you saw it and select the operator it was with at the time, or bring up a list so you can select which one. You should at least be able to edit this post-entry.

Hi Mark,
I get what you are saying - this happens occasionally if the aircraft has worn the same registration under multiple operators (which seemed to be common in the past).
Unfortunately the dates in our database are not stored as dates, but just as text, therefore its difficult to match on them based on the date of sighting. The best we can do is therefore pick the first match for that registration.
For situations like this, we recommend using the search box to find the aircraft in question, then manually click the aircraft sighting icon or "mark seen" button for the desired registration.
Hi Wombat,
As Nighthawk says, when you search for a registration it brings up a list of aircraft which hold or held that registration. You can click on the one where the dates match and it brings up the airframe with that time period highlighted, and you click on "add sighting". Alternatively when it first brings up the list of airframes that held that registration, you can click on any of them to bring up the airframe, then just select the registration and time period you want to record the sighting under. Hope that helps
How can I edit some details in my sightings
Haddonm click on my sightings and below the tables is a list of your sightings (50 at a time). Click on the green "view" box at the far right and from there select "edit".
