Hi Brian,
CE.15-07 F18 Hornet Spanish Air Force c/n 0451 (https://www.spottingmode.com/opad/fleet/spain/air_force/mcdonnell_douglas_f-18_hornet/) The complete fleet of F18s for Spain is there on that link if you wanted to add them all.
Regards,
Greg

Hi Brian,
A couple of oldies here and one that I cannot id but you may be able to point me in the right direction:-
87-0336 F16 c/n 5C-597 USAF
69-0253 F4G Phantom USAF destroyed in missile test 2001
finally at an air display in Shannon in July 1990 there was a C130 USAF MAC with the code 0938 but no matter where I look I cannot confirm the full serial.
Kind regards,
Greg

How about 68-10938 C-130E (msn 4318) for your missing Hercules Greg ?

Data Editor Posted by Warthog1 on 16 January 2020 - 17:38:50
Local Airport: SOU

Hi Greg,

I've added the Spanish F-18, USAF F-16 & F-4G to the DB. I'll get around to the remaining SpAF F-18's after the USAF C-130E's (got people chomping at the bit for them) & the Dutch F-16's & NF-5's.

I agree with Philip, the only contender I can think of for your MAC Herc is 68-10938 (already in the DB). I can't find a show report online for Shannon in 07.90 but I may have one in a magazine somewhere in the attic. I'll dig it out next time I'm up there!

Kind regards, Brian

Thanks Phillip & Brian,
I have searched high and low for a checklist for that show 22/7/1990 without success but from photos I was able to compile 90% of it.
Really appreciate it lads

Hi Brian,

I’ve spotted a couple of USAF C130,s at CHC, on 23rd January.

The first has 63302 on the tail. I’m taking this to be 76-3302. If so, it’s on the database 3times (with the same s/n). The second has 30491. I can’t find anything on the database to match this. Can you help me with it, and if so, would you add it.

Many thanks, Dan

Hi Dan,

63302 is indeed 76-3302 and 30491 is 83-0491. Both are LC-130H (ski-equipped) with 139th AS/NY ANG.

Thanks for pointing out the 3 entries for '302. Sometimes when the system is running slow it creates multiple entries and I normally go back and check but clearly missed this one! '491 is now also in the DB for you.

Kind regards, Brian

Hi Steve,

Your request of 26 January has been completed with a couple of notes;

  1. Cadet WV925 did indeed carry false markings of WL925. it's in the DB as WV925.

  2. Can't find any record of Pembroke XL862 (or anything carrying it as false marks). The c/n you gave is XK884 which is in the DB.

  3. The Bronco is in the DB as 68-3801 (I only list US Army a/c with 5 digits after the FY, unless carried)

  4. The Super Mystere has been entered as 059 due to the DB requiring a minimum of 3 digits.

Kind regards, Brian

PS..you'll have to stop following me around the country, lol !!

Hi Alfred,

Sorry for the duplicate entries on Harrier ZD470. The DB sometimes does this when it's running slow due to people adding lots of photo's. All corrected now, and the d/d dates for the Dutch Pumas corrected.

Thanks for the latest update Brian,

Yes we do seem to have spent a lot of time following each other back then.

Firstly the Pembroke was a double typo, I mistyped both serial and c/n, it should be,

XK862 Percival Pembroke C1 c/n PAC/66/81

Second error (again on my part) I listed a Super Mystere but it should have been just Mystere however it appears to have helped you out as you have seen that one even if I haven't (see I don't follow you everywhere!) correct one is...

59 Dassault Mystere IVA C/N 59

Finally one that was on my list but appears to have not been added is

54-2160 North American F-100D Super Sabre c/n 223-40

This was at the Wales aircraft museum in 1983 and scrapped there in 1998

Thanks for all the hard work.

Hi Steve,

Your request of 31 January has been completed.

I've entered the BAPC machines in such a way that you can retrieve them by both serial number (if known) or BAPC number (ie: IR808 or BAPC.361 for the Chinook FSM).

The Hanriot HD-1 is actually N75 (early RAF serial) or you can find it under ZK-EAY (currently).

I lost my log from Hendon years ago (must have been early 80's) so will have to contact my friend who was with me so I can get a date and log half of these!

Kind regards, Brian

Brian

I feel your pain on the missing log book. I know I am missing one myself which at the time wasn't an issue as I had ticked off the aircraft spotted in the various listings but when it come to logging them online it means running through the log books I have and then trying to find the missing ones later. Thanks for the info on the HD-1 and nice work on the BAPC listing, it makes sense to be able to search serial as well.

Good luck with your Hendon quest.

Steve

Hi Dan,

Your interesting RNZAF Museum list has been added with the following notes:

The Tiger Moth is in the DB as it's real s/n NZ1481 with a note it wears "NZ825"

The Beaver is in the DB as ZK-CMW with a note it wears "NZ6001". The real NZ6001 was re-regd to NZ6010 (as 6001 was originally a Meteor) and is still lying on a glacier having crashed there in Jan 1970. ZK-CKH (airworthy Beaver) is also painted up as NZ6001 in an all red Antarctic c/s!

The Pup replica is ex G-BIAT painted as "NZ6460" and is in the DB as the former with a note.

Hope this helps.

Kind regards, Brian

Hi All,

I'm delighted to say that all the USAF C-130E's have now been loaded into the DB, and I certainly don't want to go logging any more for a while so please don't inundate me with C-130H requests just yet, lol !!

Now back to your requests.....

Hi Dan,

Your second part of this wonderful museum has been uploaded with a couple of notes:

  1. The composite Anson is in as NZ415 as that makes up most of it's frame, with a note re painted as "NZ406"

  2. the P-51D is actually F-367 (Indonesian AF) painted as "NZ2410 (it never served with the RNZAF)

  3. the P-40E is actually P-40F 41-14205 (with a note) as never served with RNZAF.

I was only in NZ for a week back in 1983 and never made it to the South Island (friends in Wellington) but I'm due a visit and this will definitely be on my list!

I use lots of sites for research (Warbird Resources, UK Serials, my own DB to name a few) and if all else fails - good old Google!!)

Kind regards, Brian

Hi Dougie,

Your InAF Mig-23 has been added.

I'm sure I recognise that nickname. Are you on the outskirts of Bedfordshire by any chance? I used to post on the old Reach Hunters group (before moving to Turkey) for stuff routing OTT BZZ-MAM and (if I have the right person) you were next on that trail followed by Ray Brooks in Peterborough?

Kind regards, Brian

Hi Steve,

Your Middle Wallop show & request of 12 February has been added with a couple of notes:

  1. the T-34C is 0729 (A-411 formed part of it's code "1-A-411)

  2. MLD 265 is in fact a Lynx (prob a typo from the CH-47C on the line above).

  3. HSS-1 is B-04 (OT-ZKD is it's call sign)

  4. the UH-1H is 67-17217 (not 67-67217 - typo)

  5. I've formatted BAPC.80 to be searched by that and it's ID (TL659). This is a composite of about 4 frames but TL659 was the major frame used in the build.

Hope this help,

Kind regards, Brian

Hi All,

A bit of a long shot request, I know, but would any of our more senior members (like me) have any movement logs from RAF Northolt from 1971-1973?

I've lost a couple of early logbooks with my various moves overseas and, although I have a number of a/c listed in my spreadsheet, I have no idea when I saw them (although I know it was NHT from this period as can't think where else I would have logged Indian AF Connie's and Belgian AF C-119's when I was too young to drive)!!

If anyone has any old SEAR or BAR magazines (mine only go back as far as 1975) and can scan the relevant pages to me via email I'd be eternally grateful !

Just let me know and I'll advise my contact details.

Many thanks!

Kind regards, Brian

Hi Brian,

Thanks for the update and yes it looks like there were a couple of slip ups in there. I had the Horsa down as TL659 in my log book but with it being a composite and current pictures showing a different (false) registration I was unsure what to put it down as, I knew you would be able to sort it out.

A few more when you can find the time please.

Thanks Brian

Noticed we've got some inconsistency and duplication with the Sri Lanka AF fleet (and doubtless others). With the Mi-171 we have 8 listed as Mil-Mi 171 and 3 listed as Mi-171. Similarly with the An32 there's 11 listed as An-32 and 1 as Antonov An-32. Should we combine these into one listing?

Cheers

Hello Brian,

I have the BAR magazines from 1974 onwards. A quick look through showed not much about Northolt, but if you like I can scan the relevant pages and sent them to you or I post it here.

Kind regards Alfred.

Hi Dougie,

Thanks for pointing that out. Unfortunately, over the years, it seems people have had different ways to input the data and there is a lack of consistency. I have a huge task with the USAF listings (like most of the KC-135's are lists as B.707's!) but will gradually get around to tidying them up. I'll sort the Sri Lankan AF out now as it shouldn't take me more than about an hour or so.

Kind regards, Brian

Hi Dougie,

I've had a 'clean up' on the fleet list but it's not showing as yet. I've just emailed Gavin (our webmaster) to find out if there's a way to clean it up manually or if it's done on an automatic re-load (as not sure how often this is done). I'll let you know once I receive an answer.

I've noticed there's a duplicate of C-130 SCH-880. One has the full a/c history which I've updated, but the other is just the single entry (no previous owners etc). I can't delete this single entry as you have a sighting logged for it. Can I ask you to delete your sighting on this one (so I can delete it as a duplicate) and put your sighting against the one with the full history?

Sorry it's a bit long-winded but that's the way the system is designed, so us admins don't go in and delete records with all your sightings against them!

Many thanks, Brian

For Michael Rourke ("Polehill")

Hi Michael,

I'm trying to 'clean up' the military a/c DB and notice a duplicate under C-131F 141021. It's listed as this and as "bua141021" which I'm trying to delete but the system won't allow me to do so as you have a sighting against it. I also notice you have one against the other (141021) listing too.

Can I kindly ask you to delete your listing under bua141021 so I can delete this as a duplicate and let me know when you've done it? You can always log your sighting against the other record if you need to log it twice.

Many thanks for your help, Brian

Hi Brian

For the C130 I've deleted my sighting against the single entry and added it to the record with the full history, thanks.

I remember a few years back there was a plan to remove the manufacturer name from all records, so instead of Boeing 737 it would be just B737, etc. This was largely done for the western manufacturers but the Soviet ones lagged behind - hence the current position where there's still a lot of Antonovs, Tupolevs etc.

Cheers

Hi Mike,

The BDAC a/c have been added to the DB. I'm not sure if the Auster NJ633/G-AKXP is part of their collection. The CAA still has the reg as current but I couldn't find anything on the BDAC website pertaining to it. I've left it as active but if it is def in the collection i'll amend it.

Kind regards, Brian

Brian

Thanks for your work with the BDAC list.

There were a few privately registered aircraft there that seemed out of place i.e. not military. I'll be asking Dennis for his assistance in due course.

I wonder if BDAC took in a few strays after the closure of Old Sarum. abpic.co.uk has a pic of G-AKXP being resident at Old Sarum so this may explain its presence. BDAC seem to be happy to show off the privateers under their banner.

Kind regards

Mike

Hi Mike,

That may well explain the one or two items that didn't appear on the museum list. Am sure it'll all become clear next time someone visits (I'll try to swing by the next time I venture over to Salisbury if I have the time)

All added for you. I've had a bit of a clean up in the DB with the various types and names and it should be a lot clearer when the DB is next purged.

Hi All,

If any of you are as old as me and went to RAF Bentwaters Open House on 20.05.72 (my very first airshow!) all the a/c from my log have now been added to the DB.

Next up will be Biggin Hill Air Fair the following day (21.05.72) and I'll let you know once it's all been added.

Kind regards, Brian

Hi Brian

The Royal Australian Air Force has a series of Pilatus PC-12 aircraft not in the database.

When you have a moment it would be great if you could add the following series; A54-001 through to A54-049, a total of 49 aircraft.

Much appreciated.

Cheers Andy

Hi Brian,

Great website and excellent job maintaining the database. Just a couple of requests :

RNZAF have 4 Beech 350 aircraft. Currently only one (NZ2352) appears to be in the database. Can you add the other 3 - NZ2350, NZ2351, NZ2353

I saw a RAAF Hercules at Wellington Airport some weeks back, registration A97-465. This appears to be missing from the database. Can you add please.

Kind rregards

Martin

Hi Paul,

I have updated the CL30 to G-XATV.

It would be helpful if you could post your civil a/c requests on the relevant Civil request/update page as this section is meant for military a/c. It just ensure that Dennis (who looks after the civil DB) and I don't try to update the same info and mess up the database.

Thanks for your understanding.

Hi Martin,

Love WLG. Haven't been there since 1983 but have a best mate up in Martinborough so must get out there soon.

The 3 RNZAF B350's and the RAAF C-130J have now been added into the DB.

Loads more to add/clean up but I'll gradually get around to it!

Hi

Thanks for the updates on Nepal.

The Royal parts are now removed, and the various parts merged which is great but there is still duplication of aircraft types. The fleet lists Mil Mi-17, and Mi-17. And triplicated we have Antonov M-28, M-28 and M28.

Could these be appropriately merged too please?

Thanks

Hi Dougie,

Yes I've noticed that 'old' listings are still present (if you click on them they don't bring up any records). They're supposed to clean up on the next DB purge, but it looks like this has recently taken place, and it hasn't happened so I'll speak to Gavin (our webmaster) and see what we can do.

Kind regards, Brian

Hi Brian, thank you for all the updates you add for me and maybe for other users as well. Before I start with another list, one short notice about OV-1D 67-18898. Hi All,

If any of you were at Bentwaters Open House on 26th May 1973 the aircraft from my log have been added to the DB.

A couple more updates to complete and then onto Paris Air Salon 1973. If anyone else was around and has a log from the local airfields can they please let me know?

Kind regards, Brian

Hi Alfred,

So sorry for the late reply. The system has been running very slow so it's taken me far longer to input the updates. I think everybody is staying at home and updating their log books!!

My mistake on the OV-1D 67-18898. I missed out a line showing it had returned to service before going to Argentina (although I don't have any dates).

It has now been corrected and all your other requests have been entered.

Kind regards, Brian

Hi Steve,

Sorry for the delay. Got halfway through your list yesterday and my system crashed. All back now and completed with the following notes:

  1. Mirage 2000N - can't find 01 with c/n 01 (hate FAF numbering system with a vengeance!). Can find Mirage 2000B 01 & 2000C 01 but not 2000N. Are you sure it wasn't s/n 301? Let me know where/when you saw it and I'll dig some more.

  2. Mirage 2000C is in as '001' due to DB minimum characters. Same for Mirage 3C '001' & TB-30 '003'

  3. ATL.2 s/n 02 was c/n 069 (re-built to NG). s/n 02 with c/n 02 was w/o 19.4.62 and never an ATL.2 (told you I hated their system, lol !)

  4. AS-332M1 F-WZJN never saw military service. Same for AS-355F2 F-WYMC.

  5. C-101 EC-DUJ never went to Chile. The Chilean AF A-36M s/n 413 has a completely different c/n

Thanks for the info on the C-212. all amended and updated.

Kind regards & stay safe, Brian

Yep, managing to stay safe despite all my funeral work. Hope you're coping with your lockdown?

All NH.90 & A.109's updated for you, although a couple of the dates are a bit sketchy. if you have any info on them just let me know and I'll update the DB.

Kind regards & stay safe, Brian

I agree with you on the French serials. They seem to use the c/n in most cases which means (as per the case with my list) you end up with multiple 01 serials and you need the exact model. Sometimes of course they don't use the c/n just make it more fun. This was at Farnborough 1984, I had the Mirage 2000N down in my log book as just Mirage 2000 but it was online while researching that I found it listed as 2000N. As for the ones I posted as going on to military service this info was noted in my log book so there must have been details given at the tim, possibly the info board usually positioned in front of the aircraft. In any case I bow to your better knowledge and if you can get to the bottom of the Mirage I would appreciate it.

Hi Steve,

I still hate these French serials, lol !!

Having done some more digging, Scramble show it as a Mirage 2000N on their Farnborough '84 show report, and I've also googled a photo of it. It has c/n N01 (visible on the tail) although the nose shows "Mirage 2000N 01"

c/n N01 was converted to a Mirage 2000D with c/n D01 (the 'D model was an upgraded version of the 'N with a longer range).

What confuses me is that the f/f of the Mirage 2000N was supposedly 03.02.86 and the f/f of the 2000D (Wikipedia states it was the converted 2000N prototype) as 19.02.91, but I can only assume that the 2000N N01 is the same machine you saw at FAB '84.

I've added it to the DB as a Mirage 2000N with it's own record but stating it was converted to 2000D 'D01' (which also has it's own record now stating it was former 2000N N01).

The 2nd prototype N02 was also converted to 2000D D02 and is stored at Istres with "D02" on the tail (makes it much easier!).

Hope this clears it up!

Kind regards, Brian

Hi Brian,

Thanks for adding the last update, just one item looks like it needs to be corrected.

N4416T Northrop F-20A C/N GG1001 Displaying civil reg, military serial 82-0062

You have out it on the DB with the civil registration of N4461T

Thanks

Steve
