Just as Brian noted on his forum post 21/5, I have sent a number of e-mails to the taxiwayalpha address (on the subject of airport codes) without getting a reply and wondered if these had been junk filtered.

Hi Swakeleys,

Sorry for the delay.. but i've now fixed all the issues in each of the linked threads, plus i've also checked the DB and fixed a further 11 records where the ICAO and IATA codes seem to have merged in to one.

Just a quick note for anyone struggling to find an airport, often the IATA code is missing where this has been awarded recently, but the airport can still be found using the ICAO code. This was the case for a number of the reports in the linked threads. So if you cant find it, try the ICAO, at least that way you can log to it, then drop a message in here with the new IATA code so we can update it.

Hi Gavin

I note that the IATA code for Moulins – Montbeugny Airport is XMU.

This clashes with the code used for museum/off airfield sitings. Perhaps the IATA code could be removed and just use the ICAO?

If you are looking at adding some airfields I have some for you to look at too...

Goch airfield, ICAO ETCC.

RAF St Mawgan ICAO EGDG, now Newquay airport but with a different ICAO code but I would like to list my sighting as per what it was at the time if possible.

Miguel Barros Heliport ICAO LPMB

RAF Finningley ICAO EGXI now Doncaster Airport but as with St Mawgan with a different ICAO

West Malling ICAO EGKM

Hatfield IATA HTF, this was using the ICAO of EGTH but this has be re allocated to Old Warden now so I can't log sighting using EGTH as it shows up as the wrong airfield

I have logged sightings at all of the above and the system allows me to use these codes but as it doesn't recognise where they are or show them on a map with them not being on the DB.

After posting the above message I have noticed that the ICAO of EGNG is allocated to Thirsk airfield now that Samlesbury has closed to flying. As it looks like Samlesbury has never been allocated an IATA code I'm not sure how or if you are able to list it. Any ideas?
