02/11/2018 - SIN - Jules_PL The date's obviously wrong but I couldn't change it easily. Saw this aircraft in Singapore in 1964 (I think) when it was on a BOAC route-proving flight from LHR. I was lucky to get a ramp pass from the airport manager and had a good look around her (outside only) in her fantastic livery in dark blue and what looked like gold leaf to me!. At the time BOAC was using 707s on this route - I returned to UK in 65 and don't remember seeing any more VC10 before leaving. I worked on VC10s in the RAF from 80 to 87 or so, firstly on 10 Sqn LSS, and then, after another tour on Harriers in Germany, on the 101 Sqn tanker fleet, both times at BZN. |
