| Comments | The VC10 was hijacked after leaving Bahrain for Beirut on September 9. The aircraft landed at Beirut and was then flown to Zerqa, a military airfield 20 miles north of Amman also known as 'Dawson's Field'. On this airfield the VC10 was joined by a 707 and a DC-8 in one of the largest hijackings in history. The hijackers from the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine released the hostages and blew up the planes on September 12 1970. |
